The Beachbody Ultimate Reset-- 21 days. Here we go.

Here we go. I wondered. I waited. I watched. I saw many people getting great results from the Beachbody Ultimate Reset.

Now it's my turn. This is another opportunity on my journey toward self-improvement. I will be committing to a three week transformation broken into three one-week phases. Phase I--Reclaim, Phase II--Release, Phase III--Restore. What does that all mean? Basically, the cleanest eating I have ever done in my life. No processed food. It will mean weaning off of animal protein and dairy. Needless to say no caffeine, alcohol, or desserts.

America's Halftime; Pep Talk (see video)

Imagine it is the big game. It is halftime. You are with your team in the locker room and your coach, Clint Eastwood, comes in to give you the biggest pep talk of your life

If this commercial aired at this past Sunday's Super Bowl game, somehow I missed it. I think the message is an important one for me now and appropriate for anyone at any time.  We have all faced things that take us away from our path, that make us lose our focus. Things that may make us feel like we can no longer win. We all have challenges and areas where we can improve. Maybe we have been knocked down. It doesn't mean we have to stay there. We need to reach deep down and find a way to move forward. Forward to a better place, forward to fulfill our potential, forward to a place where we can heal or give to ourselves, and then to others.
The challenge for many may be health and fitness. For some it may be mending relationships. For others it may be finding a way to ask for help when it is needed.

The Elephant---"It Could Always Be Worse"

This is a very personal post, the toughest I have written. My intention is not to whine, but to offer hope and encouragement.

“It could always be worse”. I must have gotten that saying from my mother because I have been saying it as long as I can remember. I have been saying it to myself more and more in the recent years facing challenges with injuries, disease, and most significantly my husband’s heart. After reading this post may you be encouraged to find that I can still say that.

I repeated it to myself each time I assumed the role of “Nurse Nanci”, caring for Bob as he recovered from yet another emergency or life-saving procedure. Each time he would make it through a surgery he would call it another “bump in the road”. If you have been following my blog you have seen recent posts about the “bump in the road”.

After 28 years of marriage we faced our biggest ever “bump in the road”. You might say it was the size of an elephant.

Fitness Derailed--Attack the "Bumps in the Road"

See if this sounds familiar...You have set your sights, you are headed down the right path, you are taking care of your health and fitness. You are proactive, determined, you finally have it---your workouts are part of your regular routine and you have managed to create a healthy diet as well. Everything is going along smoothly, you are feeling great, gaining momentum, and BAM!!!---something knocks the wind out of your sails and derails your best efforts. You fine yourself stuck and unable to continue with your commitment. This can happen because of an illness, an injury, a vacation, or an unplanned life event.

I am in this place myself, right now as I write this. I recently faced what my husband refers to as "another bump in the road". The unplanned life event that has me derailed is his recent heart-attack (his second MI, a major event). After already having undergone open-heart surgery, valve replacements and stents to clear blocked blood vessels, his heart function already compromised, he was very fortunate to survive this episode.

Changing to Healthy Habits-- "Turkey" vs. "Weaner"

Everyone has a different attitude or system when they look at making changes or improvements.

What’s your style?

Turkey vs. Weiner

When it comes to diet and exercise, or changing habits—are you a “turkey” or a “weaner”? I coined these terms because of the difference between the way my husband and I approach a challenge to change our habits or up our game.

Fitness From the Heart (Personal Video)

Inspiration is different for every individual.

We all have different things in our life that drive us and motivate us to take care of our health and fitness. We need to find what is deep within us that can inspire us to walk the path and stay on the journey to be our best, to not just live life, but love life.

The Truth About Aging (58 feels great!) (VIDEO)

The truth about aging is we don't have to give-in to it. It takes work, but it is worth it to do what we can to maintain or improve our heath and fitness.
Watch the video below but BEWARE OF THE CHEESE (some parts are cheesy). It's the real me, but I mean well... (enjoy, feel free to leave your comments below)

As I celebrated a recent birthday I decided it was time for me to discuss my age and how fitness makes me feel younger. Getting older doesn't have to mean slowing down and falling apart. Nothing feels as good as feeling good no matter what your age. I am talking about my age now because I want to inspire others to be the best they can be whatever their age. It can do the same for you as long as you take that first step. Why not be the best we can and enjoy life to its fullest? In this video I tell my personal anti-aging strategies (tongue-in-cheek)

Choose to be Healthy and Happy,
even as you age.
