Honoring 9/11 and a Very Special Husband

Honoring 9/11 and a very special husband
Bob Caldon was born 9/11 (1949)
His two childhood dogs passed away on 9/11
After enlisting in the army he was sent to Viet Nam
on 9/11
Two years later he was sent home
on 9/11
When he was hired on LBFD his badge number was 911
In his single days he owned a Porsche (of course it was a 911)
We were married on the 9th day of July (1983)
Our daughter was born in the 11th month
Our son was born on the 9th day of Jan.
Bob was called home to join loved ones in Heaven
on the 11th day of January, 2012

One of my all-time favorite pictures from years ago:
Our children, Kasey and Ky visiting Bob at the station

People that knew Bob, knew how much he loved his career on the Fire Department. They knew that he designed and sold bracelets (patterned after the P.O.W. bracelets) to raise money for the victims/surviving families of 9/11 Firefighters. Bob, along with a group of Firefighters from LBFD, flew to ground zero and presented a substantial amount raised while visiting the brotherhood in New York.

We have all been affected by 9/11 in many different ways.
After the attacks of 9/11 it was very difficult to celebrate Bob's birthday . A few years ago Bob organized and chaired a 9/11 memorial golf tournament. Bob said the sole purpose of the tournament was “to promote camaraderie among the Long Beach Fire and Police Departments and the community they serve”. Every tournament started with a moment of silence for the fallen heroes of 9/11. This became the way we “celebrated” his birthday in the last years.
After years of fighting heart disease, heart attacks, and multiple surgeries, Bob suffered a stroke on the 9th day of January and joined some beloved family members, and a very dear friend in heaven two days later on the 11th.

9/11—a day to honor and remember many.

For those of us left here—Is there a reason?
I believe there is.
My husband saved many lives throughout his career, but ultimately could not save his own. He touched and changed many lives through countless volunteer activities, many of which he spearheaded. He lived a constant example of helping others (which I believe is the reason we are still here)
 (Now to health and fitness)
Health and fitness is not always about six-pack abs or a perfect bikini body. I believe striving for good health is one of the best things we can do for those we love. Good health gives us the chance to live longer, get more enjoyment out of life, and in turn to give more.
If we are to help others, we must first help ourselves. I want to live a long life and live a legacy of helping others. I want to keep others from losing family members to poor health. I want to help others improve the quality of their lives. I want to be a positive change in people’s lives.
What do you need to do to make your life better? Is what you are doing now helping or hurting your health? We have two hands for a reason--One to help ourselves, the second to help others. Whose life will you change? Where does it start?
It begins with YOU!
Are you looking for a way to lose weight once and for all? Would you like to only hear good news at each doctor visit? Would you like to plan for things you CAN do instead of worrying or making excuses about what you CAN'T do? How about just plain looking good and feeling great?  Be your best at any age.
Is it time for a change? Do it for yourself AND for those you love.
Your Attitude Matters!
Choose to be HEALTHY and HAPPY!
